The tenant has not seen the squirrel rodent but hears scratching in the attic.
Is it landlords responsibility to get squirrels out of attic.
Squirrels can do a great amount of damage to a house very quickly.
Is landlord responsible for getting a squirrel rodent out of attic of rental home if it s not specifically addressed in lease.
So why are mice and squirrels in your home.
It depends on the root of the problem.
Since your landlord has an obligation to maintain the unit as inhabitable you should let him know that you do not belive it is inhabitable due to the infestation and you will call local authorities to inspect to determine if you are safe with the fesces in the attic or he can remove the squirrels and clean the attic and you will leave it at that.
If your lease doesn t say anything about you being responsible for dealing with vermin then it is your landlord s responsibility.
Try to get the answer to that question and you will know whose responsibility they are.
But if the mice and or squirrels were attracted by waste food or a messy home then it is your responsibility to get rid of them.
In the meantime i would certainly save the email you got back as it proves the landlord is not inclined to act.
I think the landlord is responsible for animal infestation of the premises generally but you may have to go to rent court and sue the landlord to get a ruling on that.
